The New River Gorge National Park and Preserve is a tremendously popular destination in West Virginia, and for good reason. The landscape is gorgeous and there are a ton of outdoor recreation activities for you and your loved ones to enjoy.

The cabin is only a four-minute drive to the New River Gorge Bridge, and only a couple miles away from the local outfitter Adventures on the Gorge.

The cabin has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a deck, a large dining and living room, a hot tub, a charcoal grill, and a picnic table. It sleeps eight and is a great option for big families or larger groups. This is also the most affordable cabin rental out of the three that are listed, which is a steal for those looking to save a little money!

($$) Opossum Creek RetreatVictor, WV

Opossum Creek Retreat is also very close to New River Gorge, taking only six minutes to reach the bridge by car. Opossum Creek Retreat offers many different cabin rental options that you can choose based on your group size and preferences. These cabins are in the scenic mountains in rural Victor.  

Cabins range from one to five bedrooms, and some include a hot tub, fireplace, full kitchen, and outdoor grill. Kaymoor Miners Trail and White Oak Rail Trail are located nearby and are great hiking paths for those interested!

Country Road Cabins are great rental options for families with children! The lodging has free wifi, private parking, a grill, and a hot tub. Some units include a private bathroom and shower, a fully equipped kitchen, and a satellite TV. 

This spot is great for families with children because they offer cribs upon request and have family rooms. It’s also wheelchair accessible, and is only an eight-minute drive from the New River Gorge bridge!

Hawks Nest Hideout is a great VRBO option for smaller groups of up to four people. It’s located in Anstead with only a four-minute walk to Hawks Nest State Park. The River Front Property is located in Lone Oak Lodge – a private residential area in New River Gorge employed by local Park Rangers who offer their security and expertise. A great amenity on this property is boat launch ramps leading to the New River that you can access from the front yard. 

This log cabin can sleep up to eight and comes with two bedrooms and three futons. The kitchen is fully stocked, and there is an indoor fireplace, a front and back porch, an outdoor fire pit, and a hot tub. Lastly, you can also find board games and books on the area’s wildlife!

The Sweet Retreat is a lodge and event venue that’s great for big parties looking to host something in the area! It’s a twelve-minute drive from the New River Gorge Bridge but is a venue in itself with its thirteen surrounding acres. This property is near eight state and national parks. 

This venue comes with a hot tub, outdoor fire pit, spacious deck, basketball hoop, bar area, and fireplace. This property sleeps fifteen with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. It’s a pet-friendly venue and can be rented for weddings or events.

River ExpeditionsOak Hill, WV

River Expeditions is a local family-owned whitewater rafting adventure outfitter located on 100 acres in Oak Hill. Not only do they offer whitewater rafting trips, but they also offer activities including ziplining, horseback riding, ATV tours, paintball, and more. This campground is great because you can camp for a good price and have the added benefit of outdoor recreation at your fingertips.
